November 29, 2013

It was Black Friday and I was heading downtown for a quick return and then to meet a friend for lovely late afternoon chat.  I had this feeling come over me that I wanted to stay in peace no matter what….(a part of me knowing it was shopping Friday, so the crowds and all were going to be one of the challenges=-).  This is such basic Law of Attraction in action here, but I left with plenty of time and headed downtown on the bus, and I waited for 30 minutes and enjoyed the wait.  There was someone smoking in the bus seating area where I would normally sit, but I stood and enjoyed the weather. When I arrived at Eddie Bauer there was a long line of course, and I would normally be impatient perhaps or a little antsy, but I just relaxed and enjoyed the line…people out buying lovely presents for their loved ones….and on and on.

You get the idea.  I just stayed in the flow consciously.  I am sure I have done that before, but it really struck me that this is a minute by minute…moment by moment choice that we each have.  If we want peace…peace in fact is the only way=-)

Laverty Life Links:  Notice how you feel when you are in various “states”….really notice how it feels to be in “utilitarian mode” and getting things done and being efficient, or being in “worry mode” or being in the “go with the flow in love mode”…..and from that noticing you perhaps will make different choices that feel better for you and your body, mind and spirit.  Remember peace is a feeling chosen moment by moment…and you can always get into it in the very next moment=-)

What we fill our minds with determines our present and future--for better or for worse!

November 28, 2013

As I sit here on the morning of Thanksgiving, I think about things I am thankful for, and one of them is the basics of the Laws of Attraction….what you focus on persists….for better or for worse=-) At many levels I believe we are able to create our days and our attitudes the way we want, and it is up to us to own that.  I was thinking about those stories I have read about the prisoners of war and how one of the men in the camps would think about playing that perfect round of golf--over and over to stay sane, he would think about and visualize playing golf, perfecting that swing, the whoosh of the clubs. Then once out of the camps, he came home and played the best game of his life after many years in the camp. (Zig Ziglar shared the store of Major James Nesmeth.)

This story really speaks to both the laws of attraction and on what we focus on we create, and how important it is to think about something great we want to create.  If one is worrying, one is literally creating that thing upon which one is worrying about!!!  I have noticed in my life that there are some topic areas where I naturally and consistently focus upon the goals, vision and positive and thus achieve those goals easily and generally quickly (for me most of my life falls in this category, being a mom to my daughter, my work, my health, my spirituality etc.).

In other areas (or for me one area—relationships with men!!!) where I focus on fear, worry or what I don’t have or haven’t been able to create, I get more of the same!!=-(.  It is such a circle though isn’t it!?  I at times think, well I have fear and worry bc of what I see is my “reality” in that arena, but I am actually creating it because of my fear and worry!!!  I must break the cycle!!  I would invite you to look at your life and celebrate the areas that you naturally tend towards the natural and positive creation.

Laverty Life Links: Consider one area in your life that you think positively, feel confident about and know good things will come. List out your main belief systems for this arena.  Then, consider one area where you tend to have more fear and worry and list out those basic belief systems.  Pray about how you can leverage your strengths and affirmative belief systems for ALL areas of your life!!!  Let’s do it together=-)

Feeling beautiful and like a child of god.....

November 15, 2013

"I thank whatever gods may be
For my unconquerable soul.

I am the master of my fate:
I am the captain of my soul."

– William Henley

This quote reminds me that we are each wholly unique and perfect just the way we are, and that it is up to us to create the life we want to live each day. We are the masters of our fate, along with our connection to our intuition and our God (or Universal spirit). Being grateful for our lives by embracing the spirit of this quote is the most empowering thing we can do when we wake up each day.

One of the ways I appreciate myself both inside and outside is through the following process (Gail Sussman Miller of Inspired Choice created this—thank you Gail for your wisdom=-)) Look at your right hand--yours is the only version of this exact hand on the planet … and it is your gift to the world.  Next time you shake someone’s hand, own the power and be proud of your authentic spirit.

Gail shared this with me when I was sharing my struggle with feeling truly beautiful on the outside at times (especially when I am with a man).  I feel like I am a child of god and wholly beautiful and unique on the inside, but that same feeling has eluded me for my externals  She shared this with me about two months ago and it has stayed with me…..deeply.  Now I feel like I am a child of god on the inside and the outside as is everyone else….we are all perfectly imperfect and just the way we are meant to be…..=-) Yea—I want to celebrate that!!! I am so grateful for the coaching and support I have received through the years.

Life Link:  Take your power in your hands and heart and commit to THREE actions that you are possibly slightly scared about, but that you are committed to because you know they are for your highest good.

Write down each goal and a deadline for when you’ll complete it. Share this with at least one trusted person!  Celebrate once you’ve achieved your goals and start again. J Take ahold of your life: the world only has one you, and you choose how you want to spend your moments. Feel free to share your celebrations and successes or fears here!

Hula hooping naked--What would happen if you tried something new each week? Find out!=-)

I teach a class called Discover your Values and Create your Life Plan through Dabble and other venues, and the class inspires one to think about what their top four Values are and then listing out how to incorporate those value into one’s life!  As a sole parent to my 9 year old daughter, I have found that one of my top values of Adventure has been a bit more limited in its scope over the last decade=-)  More clearly said, as a mom I aimed to create a wonderfully adventurous life for my daughter—water parks, Great America, trips to Disney, local museum adventures…..yet they weren’t really the adventures of my 20’s=-)  I realized that I needed to incorporate more of my own version of adventures into my live/our lives…..

Over the last few weeks I have been looking for “new ways” to do things or new things to try professionally and personally.  It has been a lot of fun to dip my toe in different waters.  This blog is one of them by the way!!!

Last Friday I was up quite late working on my website and listening to Pandora and a really great song came on.  I thought, what the heck—I will dance to the song…..and I did.  Then I saw my daughter’s bright shiny new custom made hula hoop by a local hula hooping clown (Mr. Petey) and I thought, well, let’s see if I still have it…..=-) My bulky sweatshirt was getting in the way of mastering my hula hooping moves, so I took that off and hula hooped to the song under the moon in our beautiful city of Chicago……

It was so fun, and I felt a sense of joy and freedom over such a simple little mini at home adventure, but I will always remember that night and thinking, hey, I still got it=-)

Life Link:  Look at what your top four values are and ensure you are living them each day in all of the important areas of your life (Relationships, Financially, Spiritually etc.).  Try something new each week to step out of your comfort zone and have a little fun with yourself and life.  If you would like a copy of a few documents to help you along your path, feel free to email me!  Feel free to share any of your new experiences and how it felt after you did it in the comments section….celebrate with us!

Where to focus when you are feeling ungrounded? Try finding your authentic Drishti!

October 2013

Hello and welcome to my first blog!  Thanks for reading=-)

I practice yoga each week, and while doing balance positions the teacher tells us to focus on a “Drishti” or a focal point to maintain one’s balance.  The instructor generally says something to the effect of, “make sure to focus on a point that is NOT you, you in the mirror or any other moving object”.  I was thinking about this principle when I was coaching one of my clients.  She wanted to find her center or her inner balance, and I brought up the concept of Drishti.

After the session I talked with my coach about it, because I thought it was rather profound.  I could feel a deep knowing that in order for me to find my balance and to maintain my groundedness, I would need to find a point outside of myself to focus upon while bringing my awareness inward.  For me, that point is my spirituality or “god”.  When I am most ungrounded, what I need to do is to focus on my prayer/god and spirituality while bringing my awareness inward towards my intuition and pure knowing. The very LAST thing that would work for me would be to focus on “me” or my “ego” as that would keep me in perpetual circles=-)

In summary, I found it to be helpful for myself and my clients to find that “thing” outside of oneself that can serve as your focal point or sanity point especially when things get topsy turvy.  If we focus on our issues or our ego, that is a sure recipe for more of the same upheaval and going in circles.

Life Link: Try using your personal Drishti in the next few days both when you are feeling good and grounded, so you can strengthen it. Also focus upon your Drishti when you are having an upsetting moment…and feel the power of focusing outside of yourself and handing your issue or challenge over to your outside focal point. Let yourself be carried…….=-)

Feel free to share your thoughts or your experiences of strengthening and leveraging your outside focal point in your life’s opportunities.

Thanks for reading!
