Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between coaching and therapy?

Coaching deals with the future, not with the past or with your "issues". A professional coach will help you in setting and achieving your goals and will provide accountability. Your coach will help you set an action plan with deadlines for achieving your goals.

What is Tracy's basic philosophy of coaching?

We are all on a journey.  By discovering where we really want to go, we can get there faster and more easily by having a coach who's been there and who can help us.

Does Tracy work on personal goals or business and professional goals?

Your personal life and professional life are both intricately intertwined.  What affects one, will surely affect the other.  For that reason, Tracy works on both with her clients. She is professionally trained to work with you to improve all aspects of your life, both at home and at work.

What does Tracy focus on with her clients?

Tracy starts where you need her most.  Coaching discussions often include defining and focusing on what's important to you.  Where do you want to go in life and what are you doing to get there?  What are the obstacles in the way?  However, these are generalizations. Since each client has different needs, each individual coaching session is as different as the client’s fingerprints.  This isn't a "one size fits all" self-improvement seminar designed for the masses.   It's an individualized program to help you create breakthroughs in your own life.

What kind of clients does Tracy work with?

Tracy works with a variety of interesting clients. Many are in some stage of transition. All have a passionate desire to experience the fullness of life and have fun doing it. Tracy’s clients are bright men and women who think and dream big.  They can see the connection between personal growth and professional development, and want to make a difference not only in their lives, but also in the lives of others.

But Tracy lives in Chicago and I live on the east/west coast!

Tracy, like most coaches, works with most of her clients by telephone.  Working via telephone allows Tracy to pick up on unintentional voice inflections. These enable her to “dig deep” and lay important groundwork for creating the breakthroughs her clients seek.

Tracy works with people around world.  Meeting together by telephone has many benefits, one of which is knocking down geographical barriers. In addition, it’s very efficient and cost effective.  Busy clients are afforded needed flexibility and clients in high profile positions find the anonymity of telephone coaching particularly appealing.

Coaching calls are scheduled in advance. Instead of spending valuable time traveling to and from Tracy’s office, you simply pick up the phone and call her.

How long do people work with a coach?

The length of time for the coaching experience varies, depending on what your personal goals are and what you want to accomplish. For some people, amazing results are achieved in as little as six months. For others, working with a coach is so beneficial, so empowering, that they choose to continue on an ongoing basis.

Tracy asks for a commitment of at least six months so that you have measurable, lasting results from the coaching experience.

Are there any guarantees this will work for me?

You must be ready, willing and able to do things a new way in order to receive the maximum benefit of coaching. You will get out of your coaching experience proportionate to what you put into it. The results are a direct reflection of your effort and willingness. While Tracy asks for a six-month initial commitment, if you feel she’s not helping you to create breakthroughs in your personal and professional life, then Tracy will agree to early termination of the agreement.

How is coaching different from consulting?

Consulting is a process by which the consultant is the expert and they are leading the client to the solution that the consultant has determined through their previous analysis.

Coaching is a process where the coach asks questions to uncover the answers that the client has within them.  The client is the expert on their own life and the coach is merely the objective listener asking questions and providing the insights that they have based on the coaching sessions

How is coaching different from training seminars?

Seminars can be very motivating, transporting you magically to mountaintop experiences, but they are frequently not the cause of permanent life change. You simply cannot lay the foundation for long-term change in a day or two.

Coaching, however, is an ongoing process.  Unlike a seminar that transports you to the top of the mountain, you begin your journey to the top with an experienced guide to show you the way.  Working with your coach, you will establish habits that will propel you forward toward your achievements.  However, a professional life coach will also encourage you to enjoy not only the scenery along the way, but to enjoy the journey to the top.

What about fees?

Tracy’s professional coaching fees vary from $250 - $600 per month, depending on the time required by the client and the complexity of the issues involved. Tracy’s fee structure is carefully outlined in her intake materials which are completed prior to the initial complimentary coaching session

Whether you call coaching continuing education or life training, coaching is an investment in yourself that multiplies into lifelong benefits.  The life tools you learn through the experience of being coached lasts long after the sessions have ended.

Exactly what is covered by the monthly fee?

The monthly fee covers 3-4 scheduled sessions, each lasting 30-40 minutes. Brief coaching calls and email between scheduled sessions are complimentary, as are the evaluations Tracy sends.  If you are involved in a huge challenge or have a deadline pressing in, arrangements can be made to increase the coaching time so it will work for you. These emergency coaching sessions may be scheduled in 15-minute increments as needed.

How is payment made?

Coaching fees are payable in advance.  The preferred method of payment is by check, however Visa and MasterCard via Pay Pal are accepted.

Why does Tracy offer a free session?

If Tracy doesn’t feel she can help you effectively, she would be happy to refer you to a coach that may be better suited to meet your needs and who connects with where you are now.
